Description
Ruby is the most prized variety of the Corundum family, renowned for its captivating shades of red. Its fiery color comes from the presence of chromium, with hues ranging from orange-red to purplish red. Among all factors that influence a ruby’s value, color is paramount the finest gems glow with a pure, vibrant red to a slightly purplish red brilliance.

Sri Lanka’s rubies are especially distinctive. Most exhibit a pinkish-red tone with a delicate purple tint, a unique characteristic born from the combination of iron and chromium oxide. Unlike some regions, Sri Lankan ruby deposits are not confined to specific areas; they often occur alongside other corundum gems within the same mines. However, some of the finest quality rubies have historically been discovered in the Embilipitiya Udawalawe region, making them treasures of both nature and heritage.

Owning a Sri Lankan ruby is not only about beauty, it is about wearing a gemstone with a story, a legacy, and a glow as timeless as passion itself.
